To start the bushing
First check the bore for dirt and burrs. The bore* must be clean and free from burrs. Start the spiral steel bushing into the bore by gripping bushing with right hand. Place opening at a slight angle near the beginning of the bushing wrap or spiral. With a push-in and a clockwise twisting action, the spiral bushing will start to enter the bore. (Figure #1)

Bushing conforms to bore wall
You may continue with the hand grip clockwise rotation and puch-in action as far as it is comfortable. (Figure #2)

Final twist in action
Place slotted "T" Handle Wrench (#ST-100)** so that the slot in the wrench fits over the bushing wall about 1" from its tip. Twist the "T" Handle Wrench in a clockwise rotation and with a push-in action until the end of the "T" Handle Wrench come to rest on the end of the bore (Figures #3 and #4)

* NOTE: The steering knuckle bore has been simulated for photographic purposes.

**NOTE: A pair of narrow square-nose pliers can be used in place of the "T" Handle Wrench. The assembly or disassembly is proven faster with the "T" Handle Wrench.

Tap to set position
The bushing is now within 1/8 inch from being in proper position. Tap the bushing down flush to surface, starting at the heaviest part of the wrap and tap clockwise around bushing until in position (Figure #5)

How to remove bushing
First place a flat blade screwdriver in the grease groove of the first spiral wrap about half way around from its tip. Pry up the wrap until the screwdriver rests upon the surface above the bore. Grip the raised spiral wrap wall with the Slotted "T" Handle Wrench**, approximately 1" below the screwdriver holding the wrap up. With a firm grip and a clockwise rotation while pulling up, the bushing will torque out.

CAUTION: KAISER SPIRAL STEEL BUSHINGS MUST BE USED WITH KAISER GREASE GROOVED PINS.
