KING PIN QWIK KITS

Kaiser QWIK KITS offer another option on steering knuckle king pin repairs. Bronze has been used for a great number of years with required pressing and line reaming operations. Then nylon came about which eliminated pressing and line reaming, but requires more care in maintenance and more frequent repairs. Now the third option is available with a steel on steel repair kit that can be installed like the nylon and outlast the bronze 4 to 5 times with less maintenance.

The steel in the Kaiser Torque-in Spiral Bushing and Pin are compatible, designed to be used in conjunction for optimum results. A high-chrome, high-carbon tool steel is used in the bushing and is heat-treated to its highest strength and toughness. The pin is made of a well balanced steel composition, and heat treated to maximize a hardened wear surface, supported by a tough ductile core. Steel on steel combination is the only material that can take the turninq/pounding placed on a steering knuckle and axle for 500,000 miles!

GREASE GROOVING

Kaiser Spiral Steel Bushings and Pins are grease grooved to provide more and better lubrication.

Pins are grease grooved each end. The grease grooving has been engineered to keep grease moving into the high wear areas. The Spiral Steel Bushing has spiral grease grooving its entire length (in- side and out). The grease grooving on the pin and bushing is designed to crisscross each other some 22 times to make grease travel the entire circumference and length of the wear surface. Three times more grease is available for lubrication from this design. When grease is pounded out of a high wear area it is replaced immediately. The constant wiping action between the grease grooving on the pin and bushing replaces grease as the spindle is turned.

PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES

Kaiser QWIK KITS for side spindle grease applications have end plates with rubberized seals and pressure relief valves. "O" rings form the best seal and are used where possible. The seals keep grease clean and working which is especially important with Kaiser QWIK KIT steel on steel design.

The pressure relief valve prevents trapped air from blowing seals by allowing that air to escape. The guess work is taken out of the greasing! When grease appears at the wear surface (between spindle and axle) and out the pressure relief valve in the end plate, the bushing unit is completely greased. The bushing unit takes grease better because of the grooving on the pin and bushing, all with- out jacking up the front end. Grease intervals can be extended to 40,000 miles or more based on a good maintenance program and type of grease used.
